Travel Armenia – hitting three birds in one stone :)

So where exactly in the world you could hit three birds in one stone while it’s supposed to be only two?!

Capital A-R-M-E-N-I-A! Welcome to the Land of Noah 🙂

It’s a former Soviet republic lying in the Caucasus region straddling Asia and Europe, with its neighboring countries Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Iran –

Not a popular country for a tourist destination but it’s always so fascinating to be able to take that adventure where not many have explored yet. And I must admit, as a devoted Roman Catholic, I have decided to visit Armenia the second I’ve known, it’s the Land of Noah.

Well I am not going to talk about history but according to the biblical timeline, Noah’s ark landed on the top of Mount Ararat bordering Turkey and Armenia; dot dot dot, history happened-  this became the first country to establish Christianity in 301 AD.

Now say hello to the oldest cathedral in the world, the ETCHMIADZIN :

I’m absolutely stunned as I took this photograph… I felt like I’m back in the early fourth century! *goosebumps*

But before anything else, just like traveling to any other country – don’t forget to check if you would need a visa to legally enter Armenia.

(Note: It would be easier if you bring US dollars or Euro as those are the two of the only four available currencies you may exchange for Armenian dram to pay for the tourist visa once you land at their airport.)

For the tours in Armenia, the hotels there offer packages or you could also check cheaper deals along the streets of Yerevan (the capital city) as you will find people on standby with their vans that have pricing and tour images on them. Some hostels will also offer a free tour which covers three to four places in a day given you stayed more than 6 days for the accommodation (#BestHostel).

You also have an option to try Couchsurfing or find a host who is willing to give free tours and a place to stay in exchange for any assistance or volunteer work.

Whatever suits you, Armenia is definitely worth a visit especially if you have a thing for History, Picturesque, and Mother Nature like I do.. talk about hitting three birds in one stone splits in ten:

1. Republic Square, Yerevan – where the clock watches people as they stop, look and listen.

and YES! I’d still definitely go back (for the fourth time. hah!) ‘coz let me not forget to mention that if it weren’t for its beautiful ruins, religion and amazing chill-out nature views, there are very affordable wines, lovely people and great food!

( Whoopsie! how much did it cost me total? 500 USD including airfare and accommodation for a week visit! )
